April 2021 Masses

Fourth Sunday of Easter

Sunday, April 25, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,

As we continue to celebrate Easter we hear readings about the purpose of Christ coming. He had a choice of not laying down His life, but He opted to do the will of God.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear Jesus saying he is the “Good Shepherd.” He is taking up this divine task initiated by God. All of us are being called to be good shepherds: as parents, children, students and workers. Let us be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers by leading the life to which Christ has called us.

Spend some time with the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

Third Sunday of Easter

Sunday, April 18, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Immediately after the crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples were afraid that what happened to him would happen to them. Peter and the other disciples went back to fishing; that did not stop Jesus from loving them. He never gave up on them despite their weaknesses. God does not give up on us; we give up on God.

In today’s first reading, Peter tells the Jews, “Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away.” As Jesus reminds us, he is our advocate with the Father. Therefore, never be discouraged because of your weaknesses. Instead, let us call upon the name of the Risen Lord when we are weak.

Spend some time with the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

Second Sunday of Easter

Sunday, April 11, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,

The Second Sunday of Easter is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. It’s called Divine Mercy Sunday because Jesus forgave His disciples for abandoning Him while He was suffering and being crucified. Today’s Gospel is about the first appearance of the Risen Lord to His disciples. His greeting to them was, “Peace be with you.”

When Thomas saw Jesus, he expressed a very profound act of faith, exclaiming, “My Lord and my God!” He expressed what was in his mind and heart not just what he saw with his eyes. His experience was personal. Our faith calls us to grow beyond the formation we received when we first received the sacraments and to ask how to make our faith personal.

Spend some time with the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of our Lord

Sunday, April 4, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,

As the body of Jesus that rose on Easter morning was totally different from the body of Jesus that was buried on Good Friday afternoon, we anticipate being different after Lent. Like Mary, Peter and the Beloved Disciple, we arrive at our understanding of the resurrection of Jesus at different speeds, each at our own pace. This Easter, ask yourself: how do I witness Jesus in my life? Hopefully, we move forward from doubt to understanding to the deep faith of the beloved disciples.

Easter signifies new beginnings. Each one of us can become the beloved disciple of the Risen Lord through the intensity of our love for Jesus. This love enables us to recognize His powerful presence promptly in all situations. HE IS RISEN! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!

Spend some time with the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.
