The Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, January 31, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
Knowing Jesus is one thing; living according to his teachings is another. To follow Jesus is a radical decision. This Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time is about Jesus coming to reclaim the kingdom of God. God’s kingdom is not a place, but a way of life, and the coming of God’s kingdom is not an instant happening but a gradual process.
Jesus inaugurated the kingdom of God and left us the task of completing it. As Jesus slowed down to attend to the man who had an unclean spirit, let us also slow down enough to appreciate one another beginning with our immediate family members. Today’s Gospel is an invitation to slow down.
See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

The Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, January 24, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
Pope Francis announced the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time as the Sunday of the Word of God to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the sacred Scriptures. This it to challenge us, as Catholics, to intentionally read Scripture. Saint Jerome says, “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” If we want to have an intimate relationship with Jesus, we have to read Scripture.
God’s values must be the rule of our lives, instead of worldly or selfish values. Jesus again and again invites us to come under the loving rule of God by abandoning all unloving and ungodly ways. “Kingdom of God” does not refer to a place or a territory, but a new life to be lived with God’s own values.
See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

The Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, January 17, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
If I would ask how you came to know God, you would likely find it a very simple question to answer. It’s through our parents. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. After our baptism, what is next? We are called to be witnesses of Jesus through our words and deeds every day of our lives.
Christian vocation involves hearing God’s call through human testimony, following Jesus, seeking Him, finding Him and bringing others to Him by sharing that experience with them. In Sunday’s Old Testament passage Eli helps his young disciple Samuel discern that the Lord is calling him to a personal encounter. Samuel’s response is every disciple’s perfect prayer: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
This Second Sunday in Ordinary Time is also being celebrated as the Sunday of the Word of God. See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

The Baptism of the Lord
Sunday, January 10, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord invites us to demonstrate that we truly are God’s beloved children by remaining faithful to our baptismal vocation and mission. Listening to the inner voice of the Spirit helps us to become more and more sensitive to the needs of the modern world and to look for newer forms of service.
Then the question arises: What is my mission and calling as a follower of Christ? This is a question we all need to ask ourselves as baptized people. Like Jesus, by our baptism, we are called to enter into the lives of those who are weak and vulnerable. We should not consider ourselves as overly virtuous and look down on those who are sinners. Let us commit ourselves to the mission and vision of our Parish and serve in different ministries and give generously.

The Epiphany of the Lord
Sunday, January 3, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
Epiphanies are all around us if we are alert to their presence. Our personal epiphanies convince us there is a God in our midst in all situations and circumstances. Epiphany moments help us to grow spiritually and as human beings; they uplift us when we are down.
We don’t need to travel far like the Magi seeking to see Jesus. Jesus is God with us, “Emmanuel.” He lives in each one of us, in others and also in nature. We need to share the experience and guidance of other spiritual persons who can teach us what we do not yet know. Let us always remember to recognize who lives in each of us.
Best wishes for a blessed New Year!
Anticipate Sunday, January 3
- Sunday Mass Readings – As you read the scripture readings think about your own epiphany moments. Follow along to celebrate the Epiphany of our Lord with music.
