Music Ministry
All are welcome to become part of the Music Ministry at St. Catherine Church.
The choir practices are typically on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm in the church, as well as one hour before each Sunday Mass. Extra practices are scheduled as necessary for special feasts and events. Please come and join our music ministry! Contact: Doug Scott, Music Director, at 414–614–2235 or dscott@saintcatherine.org.
Adult Choir
This group is open to anyone confirmed in the church and who loves to sing. The Adult Choir serves at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Liturgy. Also, the Adult Choir provides musical leadership for the Sacred Triduum, Christmas Midnight Mass, the Epiphany Celebration Concert, and various other Holy Day occasions. There are no auditions for this choir. Membership in this group is by participating at rehearsal and Sunday Liturgy.
Resurrection Choir
This is a special ministry of singers and instrumentalists who provide music for the Funeral Liturgies for parishioners whose Funeral Mass is celebrated in the church. This group is open to anyone in the parish. Notification is generally one to two days in advance. Rehearsal is one half-hour before a funeral. This ensemble also sings on All Soul’s Day, November 2.
Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists play an important role in the music ministry. They are here to help support the assembly’s sung prayer so that they may sing with joyful and vibrant voices. Instrumentalists add color and texture to the music. They may minister at any liturgy and accompany music for specific choirs when needed. An interview with the music director is requested.
Cantors
Cantors are “leaders of sung prayer.” Cantors are singers who will lead the assembly’s song and proclaim the Psalm at Liturgy. Whether leading alone or with a choir, the Cantor is a Music Minister who plays one of the most important roles in “animating” the liturgy. In fact, the French word for CANTOR is ANIMATEUR! Cantors minister at Liturgies on a rotating schedule. An interview with the music director is required
