Sacraments of Initiation
THE CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS follows the restored rites of the ancient Catechumenate. Adult Catholics seeking Confirmation also participate in this process. Adults interested in finding our more about the Catholic Faith, or in becoming Catholic should contact the Director of Faith Formation.
THE CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN age seven and older takes place in a community of young inquirers who prepare for Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist on the Octave of Easter. For non-infant baptisms please contact the Director of Faith Formation.
THE BAPTISM OF INFANTS is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, except during Lent, at Sunday Mass for children of registered parishioners who participate in a program of formation. Contact the parish office during prenatal time to begin preparation.
FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNION are normally celebrated in Grade 2. Special programs are offered for children in higher grades who need to be prepared for these sacraments. Children, youth and adults are prepared for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist through our Faith Formation programs.
CONFIRMATION is conferred upon young people in the tenth grade who express a personal desire for the sacrament of initiation and who express a personal desire for the sacrament of initiation and who demonstrate readiness by their regular Sunday worship, participation in the teen program and a Confirmation retreat. Confirmation is celebrated within our United Cross Cluster in the spring of the year.
