March 2022 Masses

The Fourth Sunday of Lent

Sunday, March 27, 2022
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Remember when you were away from home for a long time, and how it felt to be back home at last. Someone said to you, “Welcome home.” Home has a special feeling. It’s a place we feel loved, cared for and a sense of belonging. However, there are times we feel alienated – when we feel like leaving home and never coming back.

Today’s Gospel reading on the parable of the prodigal son left me thinking: What might have transpired and made the younger son ask for his inheritance and leave home? Was he feeling unloved, unappreciated? Your guess is as good as mine. Let us make our parish a home where everyone feels welcomed, cared for, loved and listened to. The root of all our divisions is when we do not listen to each other. Let us learn to listen to each other without judgment.

The Third Sunday of Lent

Sunday, March 20, 2022
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Sometimes I wonder if we have lost the sense of sin and what it does to our lives. We are all sinners whether we accept it or not. No one is completely righteous, so Jesus needed to come to save us from sin. Every time we sin, we lose the grace of God and, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we receive His grace back.

How do you approach God when you come to worship him? Do you approach God with humility? The Sacrament of Reconciliation supports our relationship with God. It doesn’t matter how long it has been since your last confession, take advantage of this Sacrament during Lent.

The Second Sunday of Lent

Sunday, March 13, 2022
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Lent is a time when we are challenged to reflect more deeply on our way of life and to draw closer to God and others. In today’s Gospel we hear about Jesus being transfigured. The experience of transfiguration transformed the three disciples’ knowledge of Jesus. Lent is a season that transforms and prepares us to accept the pain and dramatic shifts we encounter in life.

Prayer, as a component of Lent, can transform us. Sometimes we are in pain and other times in glory, and we should embrace both. We need to understand ups and downs as a part of life. It’s during those desert moments that our faith will grow deeper and stronger – as long as we don’t give up or get discouraged.

Spend some time with the offerings below from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass. And check out the opportunities below.

Anticipate Sunday, March 13

The First Sunday of Lent

Sunday, March 6, 2022
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Lent a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter. I would like you to think in terms of eliminating what keeps you from following Jesus in your life and replacing it with virtue. Lent means Let’s Eliminate Negative Thinking.

Remember, as we hear in today’s Gospel, Jesus was also tempted. Temptations are not bad; they are part of who we are. Jesus was able to overcome them because he had constant connection with the Father through prayer. Lent is the time we are called to go deeper into that connection with God.

Spend some time with the offerings below from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass. And check out the opportunities below.
