Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, September 26, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
We were all created with a purpose and a mission, and we will never go back to our Creator without accomplishing that mission. Every day is an opportunity to discern that mission. We all struggle when we focus on our differences rather than what unites us. That focus on differences brings a rift in our Church and in the world.
As we approach the end of the liturgical year, the Scripture readings point us toward the end times, judgment and the kingdom of God – asking us to reflect on our relationships with others and with God. The purpose of Jesus coming to the world was to heal those relationships with one another and with the Father.

Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, September 19, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
In today’s Gospel, when Jesus noticed His disciples were arguing about who was the greatest, He didn’t condemned them. He taught them how to be great and how to be important in a way that would really count. If we look at our own lives, we might find instances where we have the same tendencies — to put ourselves above others, to point out another’s faults or to fight back in an argument.
Our readings today bring to light the daily struggle between good and evil and how we can combat this struggle through wisdom and gratitude. We should never look down on anyone, because we all need each other. Instead, St. James encourages us to seek the Lord and gain wisdom from above.

Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, September 12, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
On this Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” It is a fundamental question Jesus asks to all the baptized. It’s not about how we answer it but how we live it every day of our lives.
We know that Peter denies Jesus. But after the resurrection, Peter had the courage to preach the risen Christ. He struggled to answer who Jesus was in his life. Peter often failed, but he never gave up. He embraced his weakness, and Jesus never abandoned him because of it. Like Peter, we too need to let Christ change us if we are to let go of our human way of thinking.

Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, September 5, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
The Word of God is a message of hope and encouragement. Jesus challenges us to open ourselves up – to open our ears to listen to the Gospel and to open our lips to proclaim the Gospel. If we are truly open to the Word of God, we will hear the message.
On this Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Word of God moves us to see the needs of our brothers and sisters and to see what areas in our life we need to work on to truly become children of God. He speaks to us through the Scripture, through other people and in the silence of our hearts.
