Palm Sunday, our Lord’s Passion
Sunday, March 28, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
On Palm Sunday we begin the commemoration of the high points in the history of our salvation: the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus in the Paschal Mystery. We hear about the triumph of Jesus in Jerusalem in the Gospel read before the Mass; but this triumph is short-lived, because it is followed by his Passion.
Every day is another day to discern and fulfill our own mission or calling. No matter what challenges need to be faced, stay focused on your purpose. As we journey through this Holy Week, let us keep our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus, who is focused, patient, consistent and faithful in doing the will of God. Jesus in his passion, death and resurrection gives us hope, and he is always present to journey with us.
Spend some time with the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

The Fifth Sunday in Lent
Sunday, March 21, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
On this Fifth Sunday of Lent, we hear Jesus in his agony. He surrendered His will to the Father. Jesus had an option of taking what appeared to be the easy way out. Yet, as someone fully human, Jesus said, “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.”
What does this mean for you in everyday life? You can let your will die by accepting that you are not in control. Whatever struggle you may be experiencing, no matter how simple or difficult it might seem, you can say to God, “Your will be done.”
See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass.

- Music Reflection – From Doug: Saturday is the first day of Spring, and Sunday we will do some spring cleaning of our hearts. In the first reading from Jeremiah, the Lord forgives the people of Israel for their sins and those of their ancestors. He says he will place his law within them and write it upon their hearts. In Psalm 51, we ask the Lord to create in us a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Of course, one of our favorite songs, “Wash Me Clean,” would be appropriate for the day but not for our current setting at church, so here is Janet Sullivan Whitaker singing her inspirational song for us ahead of time.

The Fourth Sunday in Lent
Sunday, March 14, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
When we acknowledge that we are God’s temples and give Jesus a chance to cleanse our hearts, we are returning to the true light – the light we received in our baptism. John’s gospel teaches us that Jesus was the light that came into the world to remove all the darkness in our lives.
Salvation is not a one-time incident; it’s a process. Jesus has come to reveal our sins so we may be forgiven. This is indeed the Good News; it is the reason for our rejoicing. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, let us confess our sins and receive the healing grace of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass and for Lent.

- Mass Readings, Music and Prayer – The scripture readings for Sunday. In our first reading and Psalm, the people of Israel are sent into captivity in Babylon as punishment for their misdeeds and desecration of the Temple, and they are left to lament and long for their home in Zion. In the second reading, Paul teaches the Ephesians that God is rich in mercy and has saved us and raised us up through Jesus Christ. John’s Gospel tells us that God so loved the world that he have his only Son, so that all who believe in him might have eternal life. Doug has prepared the music menu for Sunday.
- Family Ministry – Margaret Lee presents multiple resources for the family to explore and reflect on salvation, humility and other messages from Sunday’s gospel readings.
- Scripture Reflection – Jon Metz offers this reflection to help us to think about having boundless love.
- Child Ministry – Cecilia Dietzler presents the Saint of the Week — The saint of the week is actually two– Saints Perpetua and Felicity! Their feast day was March 7 and their story is so foundational for the Litany of Saints.

The Third Sunday in Lent
Sunday, March 7, 2021
My Dear Friends in Christ,
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? The temple of God is holy, and you are that temple” (1 Cor. 3:16–17). This is not abstract theology, but practical discipleship, with real life consequences!
We rebuild the “temple” of our hearts and minds by cleansing them of all profanities, evil and unjust and exploitative attitudes so that we can worship God in spirit and truth. My brothers and sisters, I will never shy away from saying that we need to keep our house in order through the sacrament of Reconciliation. On this Third Sunday of Lent, we are called to continue the process of inner purification of the temple of our hearts.
See below the offerings from staff to prepare for Sunday Mass and for Lent.
